SPRING SCHOLARSHIP PACKET is out!

Carefully read the information for each scholarship.

Copies will be available in the guidance office..

Several of these scholarships ask for a "Packet".  A Packet includes:

  1. Cover Page - the one with your picture and the name of the scholarship
  2. Cover Letter - This is one page about yourself.  Use some specific information.  You are all unique, give the committee a reason to remember you.
  3. Resume - Again, ONE page.  Make is clear and concise.  Easy to read.
  4. Letters of Recommendation - Some ask for two others for three.  Pay attention to what they want.
  5. Transcript - The front office or I can print one for you

WATCH FOR DUE DATES.  THEY ARE NOT ALL THE SAME.  If it's late, all your hard work is wasted.

 Spring 2020

Abbott & Fenner Business

We will be awarding up to $1,000 to the winner(s) each year. Scholarship Deadline - June 12, 2020.  Application Process: Students will submit an essay on the topic that appears on the scholarship page of their website: http://www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.htm  Full details are available on the site.

American Fire Sprinkler Association Scholarship (AFSA)

Scholarship worth up to $20,000 will be awarded to students for reading the Fire Sprinkler Essay and answering a total of ten question multiple-choice tests. This is an open book test. For every correct answer you will be entered once in the drawing to win a $2,000 scholarship. Students may go online to http://www.afsascholarship.org/ for details. Winners must provide the name and contact information of the college/trade school/university they will be attending.  The application deadline is April 1, 2020.

Arctic Physical Therapy Scholarship

Arctic Physical Therapy Scholarship - $500 – 1 Award (Deadline: Aug 31, 2020) Student Eligibility:

1) Be attending college or university no later than January of 2020.
2) Be attending college or university on a full-time or part-time basis by January of 2020.
3) Have achieved a GPA of 3.0 or greater during their last academic year.

4) Be a resident of U.S. or Canada

5) Submit answers to the essay questions no later than 11:59 PM EST  *Note that you can be enrolled in any field of study. Instructions and Application can be found by going to:

Apache Nitrogen Products—Performance Scholarship

Graduating senior must have post educational plans with a 3.5 GPA or higher and good student qualities.

Apache Nitrogen Products—Financial Need Scholarship

Student must have financial need and submit documentation, they also need post educational plans with a 3.0 GPA or higher and good student qualities.

Apache Nitrogen Products—Dependents Scholarship (Employee)

Student must have post educational plans with a 3.0 GPA or higher and good student qualities.

Student must also be a child or grandchild of ANP employee.

 

Arizona Cattle Industry Scholarship/Mattie Cowan Beef Ambassador Contest

Arizona State Cowbelles, Inc. Mattie Cowan Scholarship provides financial assistance to recent high school graduates who have demonstrated an interest in agriculture.  The amount of the scholarship is $1,500.  Application must be received by April 15, 2020

Mattie Cowan Beef Ambassador Contest

Arizona State Cowbelles are offering the Mattie Cowan Scholarship to students who have ranching or agricultural background or have taken ag related classes. The award is in the amount of $1000..  You can apply at www.arizonacowbelles.org (click on Mattie Cowan Scholarship), ASC Scholarship Chair, PO Box 55  Patagonia, AZ 85624.  Scholarship applications must be postmarked by April 20.  The recipient will be chosen by May 10th.

Arizona’s G & T Cooperative (AEPCO)

Graduating students must have financial need with college or vocational plans and a 3.0 GPA or higher. Layer this scholarship packet with the AZ G& T application first, and then all of your personal information, ie…name, address etc. added to the back of the packet. Deliver to Miss Barbie. Deadline is before April 3, 2020

*Ashton Richardson Mayberry Memorial Scholarship

Student must plan on attending college or a vocational program and have a 3.5 GPA or better. Student must have good character and good student characteristics. Deliver scholarship packet (Cover letter, resume, and letters of recommendation) to Miss Barbie before April 3, 2020.

B Davis Scholarship

This Scholarship is available to all HS juniors and seniors, no age restrictions. Students are invited to visit their website at http://www.studentawardsearch.com/scholarships.htm to read the rules and apply for $1,000 award. . Deadline is May 22, 2020.

Benson Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship

Student must plan on pursuing a degree in Healthcare; have a GPA between 3.0 – 3.5, financial need, good character and good citizenship.  Items needed include: cover letter, 250 word essay on how the scholarship would benefit you and your goals, resume, transcript and three letters of recommendation. Deliver application to Miss Barbie before April 3, 2020.

Big Sun Scholarship

This organization offers young athletes a $500 scholarship, regardless of which sport they participated in. Please send a short essay answering the three questions.  Deadline is June 19, 2020.  Visit www.bigsunathletics.com

*Catherine E. Stephens Memorial Scholarship

Graduating senior must have college or vocational plans with financial need and a 3.0 GPA. There will be a mandatory in-person interview for finalists. Be sure to visit the museum and find out information about Catherine Stephens.  Deliver application to Miss Barbie. Deadline is Tuesday April 1, 2020.

Christian Connector Inc Scholarship Drawing

Go to www.christianconnector.com to request information and automatically be entered in a $2,500 scholarship drawing.  You must be going to a Christian college within 16 months.

Cochise College

Cochise College will award scholarships to EVERY incoming senior based on your GPA. Complete online at https://www.cochise.edu/fa/  BEFORE March 31, 2020.  Other scholarships are available including: Fry Foundation, (Cochise College) or External Fry Foundation,. Cochise County Farm Bureau

The Cochise County Farm Bureau will award two $500 scholarships to students pursuing careers in agriculture or an agriculturally related field. Go to www.CollegeAnswer.com/KFC to sign up today for a $1,000 scholarship.  No essays to write, no GPA requirement, no income restrictions…to qualify just register on College Answer.  If your parents register as well, they are eligible to win a $10,000 Parent Answer Sweepstakes.

Free Federal Money

Go to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov to file for Federal Student Aid.  This is free money given by the Government to students who qualify based upon 2018 tax information. THIS IS A REMINDER - YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS IN OCTOBER. ;-D

Friends of the Benson Library Scholarship    

$1,500 awards will be given. You must be a U.S. citizen with plans to attend college. Complete the paper application, provide two letters of reference, at least one not school related, provide an official transcript and submit an essay of at least two pages on the topic: “What are you educational plans for the future?”.  Deadline is before Friday, April 3rd..  Bring to Miss Barbie Wednesday April 1, if you don’t deliver it to the Benson Friends of the Library Book Store or the Benson Library yourself.

GFWC- Benson Junior Women’s Club

Student must be female with plans to attend college or a vocational program with financial need.

Student must have a 2.5 GPA or better.  Deliver application to Miss Barbie by March 27, 2020

Healthcare Innovations Foundation, Inc. Scholarship

Graduating senior must have plans to pursue a field of study in the medical field. Must have a 3.0 GPA or better with financial need. Deliver application to Miss Barbie before April 3, 2020

St. David Heritage Society

Help the Heritage Society with projects!  $500 Scholarship award will be based on hours served.  Student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and submit a packet to Miss Barbie by April 3, 2020

Imagine America Scholarship

This $1000 scholarship is open to graduating seniors who are planning to attend a participating career/technical college.  Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, demonstrate financial need, and show evidence of voluntary community service.  For more information, visit www.imagine-america.orgThere is no deadline to apply.

Indian Health Service Scholarship

If you are American Indian or Alaska Native, BIA Certified, high school graduate, enrolling in a health care field with intentions to serve Indian people then this scholarship may be for you.  Go to  https://www.ihs.gov/scholarship/applynow/ for more information.  Must be Postmarked no later than March 28, 2020.  Dates vary so double check.

Lions Club Scholarship

Graduating senior must have good student qualities with plans to attend a college or a vocational program. The student must have a 3.0 GPA or better. Fill out application questions entirely.  Do not send any additional information. Staple application and deliver to Miss Barbie

Northern Arizona University (STAR) Program

The STAR program helps NAU freshmen transition into college. You must be Pell Grant eligible or a First Generation college student. Go on-line to nau.edu/star as soon as possible.  Program dates are May 30 – June 29.

National Security Agency: Stokes Educational Scholarship Program

The U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) is offering a career/scholarship program for eligible seniors.  Applicants must be US citizens, eligible for security clearance, have an SAT score of a 1600 or ACT of a 25, plan on majoring in computer science or computer/electrical engineering, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Winners will receive full tuition & books costs paid at the college of their choice, as well as a paid summer internship with the NSA.  Apply at www.NS.gov/Careers.

This scholarship is for students who plan to attend college or a vocational program, and have given service to the PTO during their high school years. Deliver scholarship packet to Miss Barbie before April 3, 2020

Southeastern Arizona Contractors Association (SACA) Scholarship

$1,000 award given to a student with a GPA of 3.0 or better who has been a resident of Cochise County for a minimum of 2 years. You must be seeking a certificate or a 2-year degree within the construction industry.  Along with the application, include a transcript, two letters of recommendation, cover letter, personal essay and proof of acceptance to Cochise.  ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN JUNE 1, 2019.  Not updated this year.  Keep watching.  https://www.saca-az.org/page-1860986 

*Rotary Club Scholarship

This scholarship is for students who plan to attend college or a vocational program with financial need and a 3.0 GPA or better. Deliver scholarship packet (Cover page, cover letter, resume, and letters of recommendation) to Miss Barbie before April 3, 2020

*St David Educational Foundation

The student must have financial need and have a 3.50 GPA or higher. Student must have plans to attend college or a vocational program. Deliver scholarship packet to Miss Barbie before April 3, 2020

*St David Unified School Employee Scholarship

Graduating senior must have a parent, whom they live with, who is a fulltime employee of the St. David School district with a 2.5 GPA and financial need. Student must also pursue a college or vocational program after graduation. Deliver scholarship packet to Miss Barbie before April 3, 2020

Sallie Mae Featured Scholarships 

Go to http://www.collegeanswer.com/paying/content/pay_featured_scholarship.jsp to learn about the wonderful featured scholarships that Sallie Mae promotes.  There are many to choose from with all different criteria and dollar amounts.

Savannah College of Art and Design

Qualifying students should demonstrate strong leadership skills, have a 3.0 GPA and excel artistically.  To be awarded, students must apply and be accepted and must complete a scholarship application, etc.  Go to www.scad.edu/scholarships to download an application and locate deadlines.

2020 Student-View Scholarship Program

One $4,000 scholarship, Two $1,000 scholarships and Ten $500 scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college or career school. Students need to log on to www.student-view.com and complete a 15-25 minute online survey about colleges in your area. You will then be automatically entered into a random drawing.

The application deadline is April 22, 2020

Tag & Label Manufacturers (TLMI) Scholarship

Four $1,000 scholarships available to seniors who will be attending a 2-year college or technical degree program. Academic achievement, character, a demonstrated interest in the industry of improving the environment and increasing awareness of the tag and label industry is required. U of A—Arizona Assurance

Go to www.financialaid.arizona.edu/assurance to learn about the opportunity to attend the University of Arizona free.  You must have a family income of less than $42,400. And be eligible for a Pell Grant when you attend U of A.

U. S.  Bank Internet Scholarship Program

U. S. Bank will award a $20,000, a $10,000 and 3 - $5,000 scholarhips to senior students around the country who demonstrate a blend of academic achievement, school and community involvement and a statement of goals. Students may apply on-line at www.usbank.com/scholarship.  It isn’t posted yet.  It says to look in the spring.

Work on your packet over spring break!

  • Cover page – that’s the one with your picture, name, contact information and the name of the scholarship
  • Cover letter – one page – brag about yourself, tell them why you are worthy to have them give you support
  • Resume – One page only.  Look online for templates if needed.  AzCIS account can print one.
  • At least Two Letters of Recommendation – from non-relatives
  • Transcript – I can print one to you.  The office can print them also.  We can send them to you electronically if you would prefer to print them yourself.
